What a great start to February!! Students took their Topic 8 math assessment today over equivalent fractions and ROCKED the test! I am so proud of all their hard work!!
Math- We will begin adding and subtracting fractions next week. Fractions are a HUGE area in 4th grade. Please continue to practice multiplication facts with your child as we will use our multiplication facts with fractions this quarter.
Writing- Students have been working on researching their famous Missourian and will finish their final drafts next week. They will also be making a 'Flat Stanley' of their famous Missourian to display with their writing. If your child wants to bring in supplies to decorate that would be wonderful.
Reading- We are working on nonfiction text structures in our reading. Students are working on cause/effect, problems and solutions, and sequencing during their reading. We will test over this next week for our 2nd reading assessment.
Science- Students have been learning about earth science this week and learning about volcanoes. We will continue this next week as well and also learn about earthquakes and plate tectonics. The kids love science and the hands on activities that help them become real-world problem solvers by using critical thinking skills.
