In the Classroom...
Math: We are learning (and reviewing) how to multiply whole numbers through the thousands place. For example: 4,356*7. Students should also practice their multiplication facts. Please review with you child their multiplication facts by using flash cards. Multiplication.com is also an excellent resource to help students fluently practice their facts. (Parents can access math videos and worksheets at home, go to the math tab, Pearson link, and have your child share their username and login.)
Writing: Students have finished their final personal narrative essay. They have worked hard on good beginnings and good endings.
Science: We are wrapping up our unit on ecosystems. Students worked extra hard on creating their ecosystems in class! They all turned out wonderful! We will begin our Social Studies unit and work on Map Skills and the Missouri Land Regions.
Reading: Last week, we finished all reading assessments and started small groups. Although, 4th graders do not have regular reading homework, please have your child set up a nightly reading routine. It is extremely helpful to have your child read aloud and discuss what they read with you. Please ask questions and dig deep into what they are reading. Students greatly benefit from parents/family members reading aloud as they follow along.
Homework: Reading - 60 minutes each week.
